Welcome to The Farmers Market and The Find. I've wanted to start this blog for a long time because there are two things that I love do: visit farmers markets and searching for old treasures. This is my little home to explore all things food and found.

From a food standpoint, I love the vibe I get when I go to a farmers market. The colors, the smells and, of course, the people watching. But there's something else too. I love the idea of community coming together to buy fresh produce and meats and to support the local farmers. As an artist, I can appreciate that.

As far as the treasure hunting, it's in my blood. My mother used to go to auctions and thrift stores when I was a baby, pushing me in a stroller. I grew up with an interesting array of old objects in our home. I am passionate about giving old, unwanted items a new life. All of these old objects have a story to tell. I like the challenge of repurposing objects too.  Even on vacation, the obsession never stops. I'm too busy looking out the window for roadside produce stands, flea markets and yard sale signs to notice the new scenery.

I am an artist with a focus on jewelry design, hand painted furniture and upcycled goods. My company is Lizzy Oakland Design, which is a combination of my middle name and the street where I grew up. I'm also extremely passionate about books and little free libraries. My husband constructs them and I paint them in wild and whimsical designs. We are starting to get them out there in the community and that makes me very, very happy.
